Music - Courthouse Stage

  • Stone County Courthouse 107 W. Mian Street Mountain View, AR, 72560 United States (map)

This group is based in the beautiful Boston Mountains in Searcy County (Marshall). They have been involved in bluegrass music for over 40 years. A name very familiar to the bluegrass circuit, Carroll Small, from the Welcome Home area, plays an outstanding bluegrass banjo. Walter Mauney plays a great dobro and sings harmony. He joined the group from Blairsville, Georgia and came well grounded in bluegrass music. Brett Baker of Marshall leads the group vocally and plays a strong rhythm guitar, occasionally picking up the fiddle. Barbara West, bass player, sings lead and harmony adding depth to the group and completes our sound. Gary West, founder of the group, plays primarily the mandolin but will occasionally pick up the lead guitar. He manages the sound for the group. They love to sing and play traditional Bluegrass songs and instrumentals.

Every Friday and Saturday night from mid-April to mid-October, the heart of Mountain View comes alive with music! On the courthouse stage downtown, you can catch free live performances featuring a mix of country, classic rock, bluegrass, and traditional folk music. It’s the perfect way to spend an evening—bring a lawn chair, tap your feet, and enjoy the sounds of the "Folk Music Capital of the World" under the stars. This cherished Mountain View tradition is a must-see!
